First Lady Odelia Dugger, also known as “Dee-Dee” to family and friends, is a native Washingtonian. She is the youngest of six children born to the late William and the late Ophelia Tate. First Lady Dugger was educated in Washington, D.C., matriculating through the District of Columbia Public School system. She later attended Calvinade Beauty School and is a licensed cosmetologist.
First Lady Dugger accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour of her life at the early age of 12, while a member of the Peace Baptist Church in Washington, D.C. She later fulfilled the Lord’s commandment of Baptism.
During her time at Peace Baptist, Sister Dee Dee became actively engaged in the work of ministry, being called by God as His songstress and a teacher of the Word of God. She sang in several of the church’s choirs; was one of the leaders of the Praise and Worship ministry; and taught in the Sunday School and Vacation Bible Study classes. It was also during this time that her passion and calling to the ministry and mentoring of the youth was birthed.
For the past fifteen years, Sister Dee Dee has meshed her love and passion for youth education and ministry by engaging as a pre-school teacher and child care educator in the Prince Georges County community of the State of Maryland. She has received numerous child care certificates. Her ultimate goal is to obtain a degree in Childhood Education.
In the early maturation process of her spiritual growth, Sister Dee Dee attended various seminars and work-shops provided by Peace Baptist in the areas of prayer, healing, and spiritual warfare.
She continued the educational pursuit of her call to ministry by enrolling in the Greater Mount Calvary Bible Institute in Washington, D.C. where after three years of concentrated studies, she successfully graduated and received her Certificate in Biblical Studies in 2013.
Sister Dee Dee was united in the covenant of marriage to Harold Lafayette Dugger, Sr. on August 9, 1986. From this blessed union have come three children: Briana, Harold, Jr., and Sydney.
In the month of October in the year 2000, her husband was called and commissioned to pastor the First Baptist Church of Capitol Heights, in Capitol Heights, MD.
As the First Lady of First Baptist Church of Capitol Heights, God has continued to develop her life spiritually and to etch godly definition, character and purpose in her ministry call. She is a true prayer warrior; a woman of unwavering faith; and has given unselfishly of her life and heart to the people of God, and in particular, to the ministry at First Baptist Church.
In addition to her responsibilities as the First Lady, she currently serves as the director of a highly recognized and anointed Praise and Worship ministry; director of the Women’s ministry; and a primary teacher in the Ortho Toméo School of the Bible at the First Baptist Church of Capitol Heights.
In her role as the director of the women’s ministry, First Lady Dugger has been instrumental in the ministry-vision and purpose of the women’s retreats. In particular, she has been uniquely gifted and anointed by God in the presentations of prophetic messages through inspired visual demonstrations.
What First Lady Dugger wants to be known for most of all is that she is saved and filled with the Holy Spirit of God! Her favorite scripture is: “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16 (KJV)
