Elder Metrogene R. Brown is a native of Edenton, North Carolina. She is the fourth of five children born to the late John Harris and Annie R. Holley. Elder Metrogene was educated in the public school system of North Carolina and is a graduate of the John A. Holmes High School.
It was during a revival, while the preacher was expounding on the message “Separate the Sheep from the Goats”, that Elder Metrogene Brown heard the divine clarion call of God and made a decision that night, at the age of 11 years old, to live for the Lord Jesus. Elder Brown went on to fulfill the Lord’s ordinance of Baptism in August 1964, at the Gale Street Baptist Church in Edenton, North Carolina under Pastor Oliver Welch.
She moved to the metropolitan District of Columbia area in 1972, where she completed a 20 year tenure with the Geico Insurance Company as a Senior Endorsement Specialist.
For the past ten years, Elder Metrogene has devoted her services and skills as a Pre-School K2/K3 Educator in Prince Georges County, Maryland. She has successfully obtained certifications for Child Care Development (2003/4) and Child Development Associate (CDA) Preparation (2006/7) at the Prince George’s Community College, in Largo, Maryland.
Elder Metrogene is currently an Educator with the Genesis Christian School in Prince Georges County, Maryland providing both the instructive and spiritual foundational needs for the pre-school children of this county.
She has been married to Elder Ernest H. Brown for twenty-five years.
Elder Metrogene has also attended various schools and classes for ministry, receiving several certificates to further equip her for the work of ministry and to increase her personal knowledge and understanding of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Elder Brown attended Jericho Christian Training College, Inc. in Washington, DC and received a Diploma of Achievement for her first year course on “Salvation and Faith”, in June 23, 1991.
On July 31, 1991, Elder Brown earned a certificate at the School of the Prophets in Waldorf, MD where the Prophet Rodney S. Walker served as Dean.
She attended the Christian Warfare Workshop in Waldorf, MD A.F.C.M. Incorporated under the instruction of Reverend Mary Moore where she received her certificate of completion on December 5, 1993.
In July 1994, Elder Brown attended and completed the “New Testament Evangelism” course at the Peace Baptist Church School of the Bible in Washington, D.C., where Reverend Arie L. Mangrum, Jr. served as Pastor.
On May 6, 1998, Elder Brown completed a course study in the “Old Testament Survey”, at Newness of Life Bible Church, in Bealeton, Virginia, under the instruction of Reverend Kenneth E. Green.
After successful completion of the ‘Eldership Training Course’, through Another Touch of Glory Bible School in Waldorf, MD, Elder Brown was licensed to preach the Gospel on March 7, 1999 and received her credentials of ordination as an Ordained Elder on October 9, 1999.
While assisting in ministry at the Newness of Life Bible Church in Bealeton, Virginia, under the leadership of Pastor James Mills, Elder Metrogene Brown served as: Sunday School teacher for the youth; worked with the Outreach Ministry; was Head of the Intercessory Prayer Ministry; served as Youth Leader; and was the Head of the Special Events Committee.
In May 2002, she completed a certificate course on ‘Servanthood’ at the Crown of Christ Bible Institute under the instruction of Elder Patricia A. Tyous.
Elder Metrogene Brown has most recently attended Biblical study classes at the Evangel Cathedral Bible School in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. She completed course studies in the following Biblical subject matters: ‘Christian Doctrine’ on March 20, 2010; ‘Gleanings in Romans’ on January 10, 2011; and ‘How to Study the Bible for Yourself’ in April 2011.
Elder Brown is currently a member of the First Baptist Church of Capitol Heights (FBCCH) under the leadership of Reverend Harold L. Dugger, Sr., Pastor. She serves on the ministerial staff; is Co-Director of the Marriage Ministry; serves as primary teacher in the FBCCH Ortho Toméo School of the Bible’s: “What Is Man?” class; and is an active member of the Evangelism Outreach Ministry.
Her favorite scripture is Philippians 3:12-14: “Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”
Elder Metrogene Brown unashamedly acknowledges Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior.
