Elder Ernest Brown is a native of Washington, D.C. and a graduate of the District of Columbia Public School System. He has been married to Elder Metrogene Brown for Twenty-six (26) years.
Elder Brown accepted Jesus as Lord and Saviour of his life in September 1973 at the First Baptist Church of New Hampshire Avenue in Washington D.C. under Pastor Tucker. He later fulfilled the ordinance of Baptism in the same month.
In 1989, Elder Brown became a member of the Peace Baptist Church of Washington D.C. During his tenure there, he was elected and appointed to the office of an ordained Deacon, on September 5, 1993, under the direction and leadership of the Reverend Arie L. Mangrum, Jr., Pastor.
Elder Brown has attended various schools of the bible and engaged in several biblical studies’ courses in order to further equip him for the work of ministry. As a result, he has received several certificates of completion which have further increased and strengthened his personal knowledge and understanding of his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ: “But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.” II Peter 3:18.
Elder Brown attended ‘Christian Warfare Workshop’ in Waldorf, Maryland A.F.C.M. Incorporate, under the instruction of Reverend Mary Moore where he received his certificate of completion on December 5, 1993.
In July 1994, he attended and completed the “New Testament Evangelism” course at the Peace Baptist Church School of the Bible in Washington, D.C. under Reverend Arie L. Mangrum, Jr. Pastor.
On May 6, 1998, Elder Brown completed a course in “Old Testament Survey” at the Newness of Life Bible Church, in Bealeton, Virginia, under the instruction of Reverend Kenneth E. Green.
After successful completion of the “Eldership Training Course”, through ‘Another Touch of Glory Ministries’ in Waldorf, MD, Elder Brown was licensed to preach the Gospel on March 7, 1999. He then received his credentials of ordination as an Ordained Elder on October 9, 1999.
While assisting in ministry at the Newness of Life Bible Church in Bealeton, Virginia, under the leadership of Pastor James Mills, Elder Ernest Brown served as: an Adult Sunday School teacher for the Men’s Group; worked with the Evangelism Outreach Ministry; and served as a church trustee.
In May 2003, he completed a certificate course on ‘Servanthood’ at the Crown of Christ Bible Institute under the instruction of Elder Patricia A. Tyous.
Elder Ernest Brown has most recently attended Biblical study classes at the Evangel Cathedral Bible School in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. He completed course studies in the following Biblical subject matters: ‘Gleaning in Romans’ on January 10, 2011; and ‘How to Study the Bible for Yourself’ in April 2011.
Elder Brown is currently a member of the First Baptist Church of Capitol Heights (FBCCH) under the leadership of Reverend Harold L. Dugger, Sr., Pastor. He serves on the ministerial staff; is the Director of the Marriage Ministry; serves as an assistant teacher in the FBCCH Ortho Toméo School of the Bible’s “A Survey of the Bible”; and is an active member of the Evangelism Outreach Ministry.
By way of personal testimony, Elder Brown freely acknowledges that at the onset of his Christian journey, while he was striving to learn, seek and fulfill God’s Will for his life, he “fell short so many times”. But he is eternally grateful and thankful to God for the mercy given him and how God never failed him.Elder Brown states very humbly that “one day I will come to the end of my journey…and my greatest joy is to hear My Saviour say ‘Well done’.”
His favorite scripture verse is II Timothy 2:24 (NKJV), “And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient…”
